Upcoming Art Exhibitions and Events in Dubai 2018
The 2018 Dubai Art Exhibitions will be quite different for the norm that we are used to. For the first time it will feature a record 103 galleries from different forty seven countries. This makes the year’s edition the fair’s largest and even the most diverse art exhibition in the world. Of course there will be 78 returning galleries but for the first time the fair will welcome 25 new and first-time exhibitors from around the world!
This year’s art Dubai’s contemporary section is going to feature 78 galleries from 42 countries. Interestingly, there’s going to be first-time participants from Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, and Iceland.
There are so many interesting things to expect at this year’s art exhibitions Dubai and it will feature a record number of 16 galleries showcasing artists from 14 countries. For the first time the Art Dubai Modern is going to offer the chance to see galleries present collective exhibitions that are tightly curated including single and two-artist shows.
Art Dubai Residents
For the first time the art exhibitions in Dubai 2018 chapter will see the launch of Resident, a unique four to eight weeks residency program designed for international artists who are invited to the UAE to get totally involved in the local art scene. The artists will proceed to do their work and then finally put their artwork on show in the new section of the fair that will be presented by the artist’s respective galleries.
Expect to see artists from a diverse background under the Art Dubai Residents new chapter that will feature artists from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Indonesia, Iran, Singapore, India, Georgia, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, and Japan.
Art Dubai Contemporary
The Art Dubai Contemporary art exhibition will feature up to 78 different galleries from different countries. These will highlight an extraordinarily broad range of artwork from some of the world’s best and influential galleries. Expect to see pieces from the Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery based in London and also the Ikkan Art Gallery in Singapore. Expect to see a diverse group of artists from all over the world including household names and even new names to appear in the scene. It is expected to bring something really spectacular! There will be different forms of art which will include paintings, drawings, sculpture, installation, photography, video, performances, and so much more.
Art Dubai Modern
Art Dubai Modern features a range of top range quality artistic work from renowned artists from across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. These artists are those whose artwork has been influential in the 20th century. Artwork from galleries from far flung areas such as Lisbon and London will have the chance sit beside masterpieces from Elmarsa gallery in Dubai. Indeed, it’s going to be such a fascinating event for the guest who will have time to visit and witness for themselves this special event.
Global Art Forum 2018 (Dubai)
The Global Art Forum 2018 will bring together artists, curators, museum directors, film makers, historians, novelists, philosophers, entrepreneurs, technologists, musicians and performers. It is the 12th edition of the Global Art Forum and it will be programmed by the commissioner Shumon Basar together with the chief operating officer Noah Raford and the curator of Digital Culture & Design Collection at the MAK, Vienna, Marlies Wirth, as the co-directors.
Van Gogh Alive
Vincent Van Gogh is an acclaimed Dutch artist and he is coming to d3. Expect to see more than 3,000 images done by the artist at the Dutch artist. This is also one of the biggest events to expect in Dubai this year.
